Ashland Watershed – Red Queen and Waterline
We were 17 hikers strong for a 5.5-mile hike from top of Liberty Street to TID to Lower and Upper Red Queen and back. In spite of the rainy weather, we enjoyed our climbing and strolling through our Ashland woods.
We are so fortunate to live here and to recognize the progressive work of the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project through the displays along Lower Red Queen. Our capstone for the day was our pre-Thanksgiving gathering on Elisabeth’s porch to enjoy our friendships and Kay’s marvelous chili with vegetable dips and Joan’s yummy pumpkin cookies.
So many things to be thankful for, including the Ashland Hiking Group with all variety of styles, days and rigor. A special note of Gratitude to Dan for maintaining, indeed sustaining, the ‘organization’ and its website with hike plans, guidance, reports, and photos over these many years. And we thank all the hikers who give good cause and spirit to the AHG.
