Stein Butte

Ten of us started our hike with the temperature a little above freezing. The trail goes up quickly so we warmed up and needed a wardrobe change within the first mile.

There were many mushrooms and the forest had a wonderful earthy smell. We stopped along the ridge and took our packs off so we could enjoy snacks and the views. We continued on and arrived at the top of Stein Butte a little before noon and enjoyed our lunch under amazing blue skies.

We headed back down and decided to take advantage of the early return and skipped going out for refreshments.
