Horse Camp to Echo Lake
Today was a great day for a tough hike. The weather was cool with a clear sky. There was some poison oak for the first 1,000 feet of elevation, but it was gone by the time we reached 4,000 feet.
The trail had some tree downfall, which at times was more difficult to cross over than we liked, especially when we were tired. Although there were very few flowers at the beginning, many more appeared at about the 5,000 foot elevation.
All 6 of us made it to Echo Lake and there was only one injury (something about an angry tree biting one of the hikers). After a delightful Anne/Maria style lunch, we headed back down the trail. Given the late completion time, there were no refreshments taken.
