Deadfall Lakes
Cool air temperature along with a cool breeze made for perfect hiking conditions. We ate lunch at Upper Deadfall Lake, then six people made the trip up to the saddle above the lake.
Since there is still snow on the top of Mt Eddy, the streams were running pretty full and crossing them could be somewhat dicey. One participant made a big splash on the way down but despite appearances to the contrary, her injuries were non-fatal. Sabin cheered her up by telling her that the carnivorous pitcher plants would sense her blood and try to attack her. Fortunately she made it back to the trailhead without further incident.
Five of us partook of excellent beer and food at the Etna Brewpub in Yreka. Caution: the Etna Brewpub does not serve French fries.
