Roxy Ann Peak
A beautiful clear blue sky greeted us on our drive over to Roxy Ann Peak. We parked near 2,700′ in a semicircle dirt lot that had room for about 10 vehicles. The paved trail started across the road and eventually yielded to the dirt Madrone Trail heading up.
Wildflowers were everywhere along the trails and dazzled us with purple, pink, blue and white. (pictured are the Blue Camas, Wild Celery, the bright blues of Hound’s Tongue).
The Madrone Trail which features giant Madrones gave way to the Manzanita Trail which you can take up to the 3,589′ summit.
Jerry led us up and around the mountain with great views of surrounding peaks on all sides. Lunch was taken at the top with most near the tower and a few at the outcropping at the end of the Manzanita Trail.
The weather was perfect going from calm 50s at the start to high 60s after lunch.
Jerry’s 5 mile track brought us all the way around the mountain and back to parking by 1:30 pm.
Post hike most of us stopped at Roxy Ann Winery for some outdoor refreshments.
