Collings Mountain
Five hikers gathered together to hike the Collins Mountain shuttle hike. We started at the Watkins Campground trailhead and worked out way up around 2,300 feet in three and a half miles. I had never done this part of the trail and kept asking the others if they were sure that this was the less steep side.
We could see Applegate Lake with a very low water content. There were also some mountaintops that had some snow. We had lunch around the high elevation spot on the trail and enjoyed the shade. We started back down and I quickly realized the trail was just as steep going back down.
We took a side trail to visit the 10×10 Bigfoot trap that was built in 1974. We looked inside and only saw graffiti and no sign of Bigfoot.
