Sky Lakes from Cold Springs TH

We had perfect weather to start our hike. We did a figure 8, starting with the forest fire section (South Rock Creek) on the theory we would be better to do the exposed section in the morning with cooler weather. We then did the traditional loop on Isherwood Trail and had lunch on the little peninsula on Heavenly Twin Lake. The strategy worked out and our last 3 miles were mainly in the shade and downhill.

A lot of new undergrowth had appeared in the fire section but it was uneven depending on where you were. The road was in excellent shape, with the usual 10 miles of dust.

Our group of 8 took some good pictures along the way. Most of us headed for Lake of the Woods afterwards.
