Lost Creek Lake to Hole in the Ground Falls
We arrived to find the way blocked to our usual parking place so we parked further along the Lake. The pluses were a) a fully equipped bathroom and b) everyone got a 1/2 mile of extra credit. There were still some fall colors but you had to be careful of slippery leaves. The sun came out for a while and it warmed up.
The trail was in good shape along the Lake and the falls where we usually stop for pictures had lots of water for a change. We crossed the bridge and had lunch on Lewis Road.
Shortly after going under the bridge we came to an enormous tree across the trail. It wasn’t too difficult to climb over and we got to observe various tree crossing techniques. There was some additional deadfall but none that was a problem. You had to be a bit careful on slippery descents.
All in all a good hiking day and we retired to Kerr Manor for some wine and cheese, or beer and cheese as the case may be.
