Lost Creek Lake – West Shore
Twelve of us headed north to hike along the west side of Lost Creek Reservoir. Although foggy in Ashland it ended up being an OK day there, with overcast skies and 45 degree weather. The good news is that there was no rain the entire hike. It was great to see everyone in such good spirits and much conversation was undertaken by all. The trail, although damp, was only muddy in a few places.
Because of the recent weather, there was moss growing on everything, from trees to everything on the ground. You would have thought we were hiking in the Amazon except for the 45 degree weather. One type of “plants” really stood out and that were the mushrooms/fungi. There were everywhere. Small ones, big ones, brown to white and every shape you could image. There was much discussion about what they were and I heard one of them was edible. You never know what you will learn on these hikes.
After our hike several people did some stretching exercises. Some did more than others, but it sure felt good after the 9+ mile hike. It was great to be outdoors for the day.
