Azalea Lake
We headed out with quite a convoy for the long drive to the TH. Unfortunately our arrival coincided with a flat tire but John Engelhardt sprang into action and changed the tire remarkably quickly.
It was another perfect weather day and the views made the trip worthwhile. It was a long line of 16 hikers that scaled the heights and we were greeted by a nice cool breeze at the top. Jerry Lafontaine rocketed ahead so he could descend to the Lake for a swim. There were a couple of small patches of snow on the ridge and we expected Sunny and Joe Senter to get into a snowball fight but it was all talk. The views from the ridge were remarkable, as always.
Our return made good time, being mostly descending, and we completed the 10 miles, tired but happy. The cars received a good coating of dust as we did about 24 miles return of dirt roads. Note that someone has improved the access road to the parking where you first climb onto it. The overall condition of roads 1030 and 400 was good. Given the late finish we headed straight home.
