Applegate Lake

Well, sometimes the weather forecast is correct. Our usual experience is that the forecasts over promise precipitation levels. Today, however, the forecast may have been a bit of an understatement.

It was raining hard when we arrived at the TH and only abated slightly as the morning wore on. Temperatures stayed in the low 40s with low hanging clouds.

We decided to do a loop from the French Gulch TH using the Sinns Bar trail which we had not hiked before. It turned out to be a nice walk up from the lake to the ridge through madrone and manzanita. We were surprised at how little blow down there was here after the recent wind storm.

Given the weather, the four of us decided to cut the hike a bit short and head for a nice warm and dry lunch at the Bella.
