Frog Pond and Cameron Meadows
Nine of us decided to hike up to Frog Pond, then up further and over to Cameron Meadows. Finally, we headed back to the cars to finish this loop hike via a shuttle. The hike has much history of unexpected snow storms, or getting lost in Cameron Meadows, but today, there were no surprises and no problems.
We were a little worried about the weather and just before lunch at Cameron Meadows the wind kicked up, while the temperature dropped quickly. However, there was only a short rain spell and that was after we reached the cars, so all went well.
The flowers were out in force, which made the hike that much better. I think the ghosts of the past on this hike are now permanently gone.
The Frog Pond trail is in excellent shape, especially the section just above the pond that has been overgrown in the past. On the way up we noticed that there had been recent trail maintenance. The Cameron Meadows trail, as you start down from the meadow, is now well marked with cairns, so it is extremely difficult to get lost there. Further down the hill there is still has substantial deadfall.
Refreshments were taken at Boomtown.
