Blue Lake – Ashland Hiking Group

Nine of us headed north to escape the heat in the Rogue Valley. The group ended up in the Sky Lakes Wilderness area and hiked to Blue Lake, passing on the way Island, Pear and Horseshoe Lakes.

We started hiking in cooler temperatures (high 50’s to low 60’s) and finished hiking in the mid 70’s. Along the trail we met one PCT through hiker from London. One of the highlights was eating Huckleberries along the trail, both going and returning. There were not a lot of them, but they were perfect for eating.

A leisurely lunch was taken at Blue Lake with several people soaking their feet in the lake water.

Refreshments were taken at the Lake of the Woods Lodge on a new outside deck and perfect weather.
