East Boulder Lake
Seven of us headed to the Trinity Alps for one of our favorite hikes of the year. It was 41 degrees when we started, clear blue skies and fall colors were seen on the way to the trailhead. The trail is steep in many places, but the views were incredible.
We decided to go counterclockwise this year and had lunch when we first encountered the PCT at the top of the ridge, overlooking the canyon we had just scaled to the top. Given how late in the season it is, the sun was a bit lower than in previous years and the large meadows were dry, which made the crossings easier. We ended the hike in 62 degree weather, so we had perfect weather for our hike.
Refreshments were taken at Dotty’s in Etna.
