Wildflower Walk to Little Pilot Peak and Little Hyatt Lake
So, maybe it wasn’t the best day for a wildflower walk. Sunny, Rich, Darryl, Traci, Bob and I found ourselves in very wet, very windy weather. The flowers, being smarter than we were, kept their heads down for the most part.
We lasted about an hour until our frozen appendages cried for mercy, and we headed to the Green Springs Inn for hot beverages and a warm room. Bob actually had a great time taking some exquisite photographs.
After warming coffee, Rich convinced Darryl and me to seek out fields of bleeding hearts on the PCT to Little Hyatt Lake trail. A couple of more surprises awaited us: a cool new flower called Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum) and peonies by the lakeshore!
We will try the same hike again next Wednesday. The peonies should still be there waiting for us on Little Pilot Peak.
