PCT – Etna Summit to the Smith Lake Overlook
A perfect day for a hike on the PCT. None of my fellow hikers had done the hike so the spectacular views were fully appreciated. We trekked up in 1 1/2 hours as usual, with one stop to look out over Mount Etna.
Conditions were perfect at the Overlook and we had a leisurely lunch with the view of Smith Lake, Mount Etna, Smith Valley and Mount Shasta. The hike takes you from around 6,000 feet elevation to 7,200. From the outset there are views of the Marble Mountains to the west and later all the way to the Red Buttes to the north. From the ridge you can see south to Mount Eddy.
