Sterling Mine Ditch – Wolf Gap to Deming Gulch
Ten of us headed to the Applegate area to hike from Wolf Gap down to the Sterling Mine Ditch Road and over to Deming Gulch. It is mainly downhill at the beginning, then flat along the ditch trail.
The weather was perfect and it was wonderful to have sun in our faces. There were no flowers, but the views were nice, including Dutchman’s Peak, Big Red Mountain and Wagner Butte.
We had lunch about halfway through the hike and it was great to just sit down and enjoy the views. As we walked along the ditch trail, for some reason, my mind thought we were going up hill ever so slightly, even though we were actually going down hill according to my GPS. It was a strange feeling.
Post hike, some of us headed to Boomtown for refreshments.
