Sterling Mine Ditch – Tunnel Ridge to Little Applegate

We had a fun hike in perfect weather, starting from the Tunnel Ridge TH and ending at the Little Applegate TH. We seldom use the Tunnel Ridge TH and it is a great way to get up to the Mine Ditch. More gradual than Bear Gulch and you eliminate 2 boring mine ditch miles from the hike. I clocked it at 500 feet ascent to the mine ditch and a further 500 feet ascent to the lunch spot later. The descent is a nicer hike tham I had remembered. The total hike was 6.2 miles and 1,100 feet of ascent.

Friday we will be hiking Jackash Trail/Anderson Ridge.

Going forward, next week we will hike Viewpoint Mike and Greensprings to Little Hyatt, then perhaps Takelma Gorge after that.
