Enchanted Forest
Eight of us headed out to the Enchanted Forest in the Applegate Valley on a sunny, 40o morning. The TH, on Slaggle Creek Road, is just above the Wooldridge Winery where we had decided to have refreshments after the hike.
Heading up into the Enchanted Forest we took the first right to follow the Felton Memorial spur trail. This trail and the memorial were constructed as a tribute to three BLM men who died in a helicopter crash at that location in 1993 while surveying a timber track.
It was then back to the main trail, where the group split in two, with some eager to start refreshing themselves at Wooldridge after only a 5 or so mile hike headed back. The rest continued on up to a view point looking down into the valley at about the 5 mile point where the group split again, with the second group headed back to Wooldridge for a 6.5 mile hike. The final group headed up to the ridge for the most expansive view and an 8 mile hike in total.
In the end we all made it back to Wooldridge where it was quite pleasant on the patio enjoying the company, the view, the refreshments and the nice 60o weather.
