Wonder Trail in the Ashland Watershed
Seven of us gathered at the Fairy Ponds Trailhead at the top of Lithia Park and Granite Street to head up the Wonder Trail. It was a cold, crisp day with light rain. Climbing up the trail we noted the big granite stones and red madrone trees. Single golden maples were brilliant among the dark conifers and shaded valleys.
We perched on stumps near the top of the trail for lunch, while viewing dramatic clouds above the Ashland watershed. When we reached the intersection of Wonder and the Fall on Knee trail, we descended to Forest Service #2060 back to the trailhead.
It was a cold day but invigorating to be out with hiking friends. (4.5 miles and 870’ elevation gain)
