Ashland Watershed – New Wonder to Fell on Knee
The sudden weather shift made a quick schedule change necessary, so we stayed local and led a hike up the New Wonder Trail😊. Not knowing if we’d have a hike over the weekend, it was special to see Kate, Randy and Gary meet me at the TH in Upper Lithia Park🙌.
We were prepared for April snow and we got it! From 9:00 AM until our return at 1:30 we got intermittent snow showers, but no rain👅. The snow seemed to give us a boost and we gathered at the intersection of the new and old Wonder Trails by 10:30.
With the snow coming down, I asked if they wanted to head back or continue up to Fell on Knee. With great enthusiasm they voted to continue👍! Up the final 1.5 mile grade we went and were rewarded with a brief break in the snow during lunch.
This was a new hike for Kate and the last 1.5 miles was new for Gary. We celebrated with coffee buzz chocolate and gouda cheese😀.
It seemed we made the downhill return in fast order again boosted along by the falling snow.
Back at the TH, we all agreed that hiking in April snow was fun😁!
We had hiked 9 miles RT with a gain of 1,300′.
