Hitt Road to Fell On Knee Trail
Your loyal servants, J Kerr, R Stickle. J Senter and J Lafontain, followed the advice of Elisabeth Zinser and checked out the above hike. The hike starts out from Birdsong Lane and climbs fairly steeply to Hitt Road and on to Fell on Knee Trail on the left.
There were good views over Ashland, enhanced by the lack of leaves in the winter. Just beyond Fell on Knee Trail on Hitt Road we had to check our bearings as the road splits. We opted for the left fork, starting as a trail rather than a road, and it soon widened into a road. Eventually we came to an open area and continued up Hitt Road to the second left turn onto Fell on Knee Trail. The Trail is a loop that goes down and around and back to Hit Road.
We soon came to the intersection with Wonder Trail and, as promised, it is an excellent spot for lunch, with views of Mt Ashland. Some bikers joined us for chocolate then we were on our way around the loop and down to the TH. That section is a very nice walk through the forest. Finally we glided down to Louis’ to celebrate the hike. We will be looking at various ways to do the hike, as Elisabeth suggested.
