Summit Snow Park
Eight of us headed up to Summit Sno-Park to complete our second of the season snowshoe excursion. Upon arrival to the trailhead we noted that the weather was a bit warmer than expected and the parking lot was clear of most snow.
Undeterred, we put on our snowshoes and headed out. The first mile was heavily tracked with snowmobiles to the point that some of us took off our snowshoes and walked a ways. However, the snowmobile tracks soon ended and we followed a cross country ski track to our normal place of lunch, which meant we had to find a place to sit in the snow to take a load off our feet and enjoy being outside.
The trail from lunch back to the cars had no tracks, so we had to break trail for much of the way home. The trail was much better marked than in the past, which made our hike mentally easier. Everyone helped break trail, which makes the hike much easier on everyone.
We had dark clouds to blue sky weather throughout the day and even some sunshine. It was great to be outside on our way home before it started raining.
