Abbot Butte from the Yellow Jacket TH
There were 8 people who started from the Abbott Butte trail in nice 72 degree weather. There had been a fire some years back and many snags were left standing. Some had fallen across the trail. Fireweed was everywhere but not blooming yet.
We saw many wildflowrrs as we made our way through the overgrown trail. We went up to Abbott Butte to see a pile of wood where the lookout once stood. After a snack break, we bushwhacked for about 15 minutes and came to a rock outcropping. It was there that the others decided they wanted to have lunch and not continue to Elephant Head.
