Elk Creek
It was a sturdy group of hikers who braved the elements, with ponchos at the ready, and even an umbrella. It was a steady rain that awaited us, fortunately with no wind. Elk Creek was full to the brim and flowing fast.
We did the several miles from the TH, parallel to the river, at a fast pace and then munched sandwiches in questionable shelter. There was good shelter available by the pit toilet but unfortunately the odor was rather off-putting.
After lunch we left our packs in the shuttle car and marched over to the dam. It is quite a sight and Mike L explained some of the workings. After our brief tour we headed back to the shuttle cars with the drivers speeding up to lessen the wait time. The 4 or 5 miles to the TH took us into a bit of a snow storm and we hurried back to retrieve a wet group of hikers.
A few of us retired to Kerr Manor for wine, beer and/or coffee and cheese. A day to remember but not to long for.
