Wildflower Walk – Greensprings Summit to Little Hyatt Lake
Twelve hopeful souls headed up to the Old Hyatt Road to search for our “secret” spot for the luminous Mountain lady slipper. Alas, it seems the mountain ladies may have become victim of our dry, dry hot year; although we thought we spotted buds two weeks ago, there were no blooms. However, we did find over 50 species in the meadows along Old Hyatt Road and around and above Little Hyatt Reservoir on the PCT towards Hyatt Lake.
With Collette along, we got down on hands and knees to identify small little beauties like Bach’s Downwiningia. We also spotted Oregon Yampah (a new one), Whitestem frasera (seen last year but needed a memory refresh), and of course, the crowd favorite, Prairie smoke.
We then headed over to Cocorico at Greensprings for refreshments before heading back down to Ashland.
