Lost Creek Lake – Marina to Dam
Nine grizzled hikers and Liz gathered at the Joseph Stewart Park marina TH to complete the south shore trail of Lost Creek Lake down and across the William Jess Dam. This 7.7 down and back is another New Hike for us.
The first day of March brought beautiful warming Spring weather to the lake, and clear skies that allowed us to see Union Peak rising above Crater Lake some 47 miles away.
The hike is a continuation of the Rogue River Trail that circles the lake. We welcomed back Steve and Joe, newly vaccinated and ready for the trail. We’d missed them and enjoyed their company on the hike.
This section of the trail is gentle and at first shaded in the forest, then sunny along the shore line and up on the dam. Besides the lake with it’s boating activities, our views were Rumley Creek Falls and a Bald Eagle perched on the dam’s guard rail.
We walked one mile across the dam for lunch on logs on the far side. After lunch in the mild sun, we headed back and seven of us stopped at Phil’s Frosty in Shady Cove for ice cream.
It was another great day.
