PCT to Pilot Rock Wildflower Walk Report
Denise, Nanci and I headed up the PCT to the Pilot Rock trail yesterday from the Old Highway 99 trailhead. Thanks to rain-threatened skies, we had the trail to ourselves. Bottom line: It’s early days yet, but it’s going to be a helluva show in coming weeks. We did see lots of flowers, although most are just getting started, such as the fritillaries and shooting stars and Jacob’s ladders.
In addition to the new flower photos below, we saw the following flowers in bloom which were already on the Wildflower Reference page:
Milkmaids or Coast toothwort (Cardamine integrifolia)
Grass widows (Sisyrinchium or Olysyniun douglasii)
Henderson’s fawn Lilly (Erythronium hendersonii)
Western trillium (Trillium ovatum)
Showy Jacob’s ladder (Polemonium californicum)
Yellow bells (Fritallaria pudica)
Gummy gooseberry (Ribes lobbii)
Shooting stars (Dodecatheon hendersonii)
