Applegate Lake
We started the day in 51 degree weather and overcast skies. The lake was like a mirror at the start and the scenery was spectacular. As we progressed, we noticed that there was a light drizzle at times on the lake, but we were dry in the forest.
There were some nice flowers, like Henderson’s Shooting Stars, along with an Osprey Nest, complete with 2 adult Osprey. We also saw a Downy Woodpecker, Canada Geese and Buffleheads. Lunch was long to enjoy the views on Hal’s Point. The Poison Oak was showing it’s colors everywhere and appeared to be VERY happy. A few ticks also made their appearance We completed the hike, escaping the rain and took refreshments in the Boomtown Saloon.
