Mt Eddy
We stated the hike with a clear sky and mid 60 degree weather. There were a lot of “through PCT hikers” on the trail, averaging around 12 per hour when we were on the PCT.
The views from on top were amazing, although the last mile, plus a 1,000 feet of vertical were a real challenge to our mind and bodies to get there. Two “younger” folks were already on top of Mt. Eddy, having a beer to celebrate their accomplishments. Ah, to be young again.
One of our group stayed on the PCT from the lower lake, scouting out a possible new hike in the coming months. We had refreshments at Jefferson’s Roadhouse (nee Siskiyou Roadhouse) in Yreka, which had just opened (today) and many of the staff were learning their new assignments and what was on the menu, but they met us at the front door with big smiles.
